OMVIC Regulated Dealerships and Salesperson
Car dealerships and salespersons are regulated by Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC). OMVIC’s mandate is to maintain a fair and informed marketplace by protecting the rights of consumers, enhancing industry professionalism and ensuring fair, honest and open competition for registered motor vehicle dealers.
Dewshi Law assists licensees in front of the Licence Appeal Tribunal who face revocation, refusal, or refusal to renew a registration of their Salesperson/Dealer Licence by OMVIC. OMVIC will issue an proposal to revoke, refuse, or refuse to renew a registration. The recipient of the proposal has the right to appeal the decision within 15 days of receiving the proposal. Failure to do so with result in the revocation and/or refusal of Salesperson and Dealer Licence.
Dealers and Salesperson must ensure that they comply with the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act with regards to the following matters:
- Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Practice
- Consignment Sales
- Wholesale Disclosure
- Consumer Protection Act
